Mark Charles Zigrang

August 15, 1953 - September 7, 2017

Mark married Mary Paulette Baseel in 1977 and three children, Sarah, Anne and Joseph were born to this loving marriage.

A graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia Mark was retired from the Special School District in St. Louis where he taught horticulture and other things he loved for more than 25 years. He was active in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) as well as hosted many students from across the world in a summer internship program at the Missouri Botanical Garden. At retirement, Mark volunteered at the Missouri Botanical Garden and worked many hours in his home garden where he nurtured the plant life he so enjoyed. Many times Mark gave family and friends a personal tour of the ‘Garden’, his passion and knowledge always making it a special experience.

Mark was a devoted husband, son and brother, caring and committed father and doting “PawPaw” to his grandchildren Hannah, Paige, Grant and James. He had a special connection with each of his grandchildren which was difficult to deny. He could never say no when asked to help a friend whatever the request – a tour of the “Garden”, landscaping advice or trimming a tree.

Mark is survived by his wife, Mary; mother, Mary J. Zigrang; children, Sarah Zigrang Czarnecki (Marty); Anne Zigrang Ivancho (Dan); Joseph Zigrang (Brenna); grandchildren, Hannah and James Ivancho and Paige and Grant Czarnecki; brothers, Greg Zigrang (Jeannie); Gary Zigrang (Cathy); many nieces and nephews, along with countless other relatives and friends whom were blessed to know him. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Zigrang and in-laws, Lola and Eddie Baseel.

Mark was a special person who touched many lives, was dearly loved and will be missed forever.
